Out with the old and in with the new! I needed a hobby a few years back- and I needed that hobby to be more than scrapbooking like it had been in years before.I also had some “project” pieces sitting in my back room that I bought in hopes to paint and make new. (The only painting I had done up to this point was finger painting as a kid) However, my boys needed a new nightstand and I had an old one that needed some TLC that I had snagged at a yard sale months earlier for $5. Here’s the first thing I actually painted and put in our home – and it’s still my boys nightstand 3 years later. (Excuse the nicks and loose knobs – this is my BOYS nightstand!)
Here are some items that I have purchased in the last year from yard sales (All items were $20 and under). I painted them and they now furnish our home. It’s been a lot of fun to furnish our house with things that I did with my own time and hands. It also makes our home feel more sentimental.
Here’s one of my favorite pieces in our house – our “entertainment center” I bought this piece for $20 and gave it a shabby makeover! It’s amazing what the right color white and some new knobs will do to a piece!
Some other spectacular garage sale finds turned new …
This next piece was at a garage sale in our neighborhood. The seller told me it was an antique so he had to have $10 for it! What?! Yes, I will take it! It makes a beautiful addition to my living room!
I can’t tell you the countless “junk” I have been blessed with at these yard sales and the most fun is bringing new life to them. Most pieces I sell, but every once in awhile I snag pieces that I have to keep and enjoy for a season.
